ACAT Duty Service
Going to ACAT for a consumer or credit law matter?
Care Consumer Law operates a duty service at the ACT Civil and Administrative Tribunal. Care can provide free legal advice, assistance in conciliation conferences and representation in the following areas:
-
Consumer law (fair trading and consumer protection disputes, including, for example, consumer guarantees, unfair contract terms and misleading and deceptive conduct);
-
Debt recovery (i.e. where you have had a default judgment entered against you);
-
Simple contract disputes; and
-
Consumer credit (mortgages, credit cards, personal loans and bankruptcy).
We can assist individual consumers to resolve problems with financial service providers (such as banks), telecommunication and utility companies, and other businesses and traders, including sole traders. We are not able to assist businesses or in private disputes between individuals.
We can also provide general information and legal advice on Motor Accident Injuries applications. Please note, however, that we are not able to assist in conciliation conferences or provide representation services on Motor Accident Injuries disputes.
📅 When: Every Monday from 9:00am to 4:00pm
