SESSION 1 - Tuesday 20 July 2021 - 9:30am to 1pm
This session will cover two topics

Me, Myself and Money
Ever thought about your relationship with money and how it was shaped? This session will explore your relationship with money and how it impacts on those we share a financial life with including our partner, kids and extended family and friends. This session includes a trained counsellor who will share some tips and strategies on how to communicate with family and friends about money so that conversations can be productive rather than a source of conflict.

Understanding My Consumer Rights
When was the last time you purchased something from a shop or signed a consumer contract? Most of us interact with consumer products and services daily but do we know what our rights are as consumers? This session will be facilitated by a solicitor from the Consumer Law Centre, and if you like the ABC show the Checkout – then you will enjoy this session.

Budgeting for Life
Budgeting – do you love it or loathe it? Managing money is something most of us will need to do for all our adult lives. This session will be facilitated by a financial counsellor at Care Inc, who will share tips and strategies to make sure your budget is working for you!

Surviving Debt
Dealing with debt can be stressful, especially if it is unmanageable. One of Care’s financial counsellors will share insights into her role in assisting people deal with debt including providing some helpful strategies if you find yourself caught in a cycle of debt.

Investing in Yourself
When money and time are limited, it can cause additional stress in our lives which can impact on physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. This session will be facilitated by Care staff, who will help workshop strategies so that you can be in the driver's seat when it comes to taking care of you and those you care for. This session will focus on how to develop your SMART goals.

Energy Efficiency and You
Heating and cooling our homes have become more expensive but this session is aimed at offering lots of great tips and tricks to help reduce your energy bills as well as help save the planet. Come and hear from one of ACT Government's Actsmart energy officers who can talk about ways to reduce your bills as well as programs on offer which are aimed at reducing energy bills and caring for the environment.

Superannuation and You
Do you know how much super you have or how much you need to retire on? Does the mere mention of the word superannuation give you a headache? If so, then this is the session for you. Come and hear superannuation tips and suggestions from a super expert.

Wills and Power of Attorney
Do you have a will? It is easy to think that a will is only if you have assets. What if you are a parent or even a pet owner and you would like to ensure who cares for your children or animals if you should pass? This session will be led by a guest speaker who will talk through what to consider when it comes to preparing a will as well as a power of attorney. This session is a must for any age.

Once you have been approved by Access Canberra or Revenue NSW for a WDP/O, please email education@carefcs.org or call (02) 6257 1788 and we will email you an Eventbrite registration link.

Eligibility to register for a session
Registration for the workshops cannot be completed before approval is received. You must be approved by either Access Canberra (ACT) or Revenue NSW for a WDP/O. Be mindful that WDP/O forms must be submitted to Access Canberra by COB 1 July 2021. This is to ensure your application is processed before workshop start dates (spaces are limited).

How many sessions can you do
Depending on how many infringement notices you have, you can attend one (1), or all four (4) sessions from the above list. Each session you attend contributes to $200 off your fines.​
