End-of-year holiday shutdown details 

Care would like to wish you a safe and relaxing Christmas/holiday season. Our service will be closed from COB Friday 23 December 2022 and will reopen on Tuesday 3 January 2023. Please see information below for each of Care’s programs:

  • Care Financial Counselling

To speak to a financial counsellor call the NDH phone service on 1800 007 007. The phone line operates until Friday 23 December 4:30pm and starts again Tuesday 3 January 2023 at 9:30am. During the shut down period you can continue to access the National Debt Helpline website for financial hardship information, resources and tools.


Wednesday evening after-hours: This service will recommence Wednesday 11 January 2023. 


  • Care Consumer Law 

The final after-hours legal clinic will be held on Wednesday 21 December 2022. During the shut down period you can access and review information about consumer protections on the ACCC website


The Defined Benefits Information Service will continue to operate until COB Friday 23 December 2022 and will resume on Tuesday 3 January 2023. 


  • Care Community Loans 

New loan application for essential items (fridges/washing machines, car repairs & registration, medical/dental expenses) will be accepted until 16 December 2022, with all paperwork to be submitted no later than 16 December 2022 to allow for enough time to process applications. 

Applications will resume as normal from Tuesday 3 January 2023. 


  • Community Education Program

We will be processing energy support vouchers until COB Wednesday 21 December 2022.
Our community education groups will be starting up again mid to late January.
