People usually contact us when they are in debt and not sure what to do or how to negotiate with creditors, when they need information about financial matters, when they want to look through their budget and see where the money is going or want to talk through the stresses of living on a low or restricted income.
If you would like to contact the service you can telephone the Duty Information Worker, who can give you information about your particular situation and/or make an appointment for you with the most suitable Care service. This service is available weekday mornings.

There is an evening service every Wednesday from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Please arrive by 6.00pm . You can either come into the Office and see a financial counsellor or you can telephone.
When you come to the Office for the After-hours service, you may need to wait, people are seen in order of arrival. Interviews normally take 20-30 minutes. Please bring relevant accounts and letters to the interview.
When you speak to Care's Information workers you may find that you need more than quick information over the telephone. If so, you may be booked in for an initial appointment with a Financial Counsellor. These appointments are one-hour, one off appointments which can provide you with information, financial counselling, referral to a financial counselling casework service, or referral to services outside Care.
Provides information, one-off appointments and short-term casework for people living in Queanbeyan and surrounds. The service operates 2 days per week from Queanbeyan.
This service is dedicated to Housing ACT tenants or prospective Housing ACT tenants. It provides short term as well as longer-term work.
This service is for people who have more complex needs requiring financial counselling as well as information. It can provide longer-term contact. The service works in a way that recognises that some people may have underlying issues that affect their financial life and well being.
In casework, you are allocated a financial counsellor. You and your counsellor work together and this may involve checking you are legally liable for the debt, making sure you are receiving all of your legal entitlements, contacting your creditors to negotiate repayment amounts and linking you to other support if that is necessary.
